About Me
Hi, Iβm Isabella Smith! Iβm a Senior at the University of Michigan School of Information studying UX Design + Research with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
My focus lies in the intersection of user experience and business innovation. Throughout my academic journey, I have honed my skills in crafting user-centric designs that seamlessly integrate functionality with aesthetic appeal.
The story behind my logo
In Chinese, βηβ is the last character of my name.
βWhere are you from?β I get asked this question all the time and still hesitate when I answer. Do I answer with my ethnicity (Asian mom + American dad), where I grew up (Beijing, Dusseldorf, Shanghai, Luxembourg), or where Iβm living right now (Ann Arbor)?
Being the daughter of an expatriate has been many things: enriching, challenging, and an integral part of my life. I grew up immersed in a multitude of different places and cultures. Despite the challenges that have come with balancing my identities, I will forever boast my heritage and am grateful for the multi-faceted viewpoints Iβve developed.
Unfortunately, Iβve found that my perspectives are rare in the realm of technology. With its presence expanding evermore in our daily lives, it is crucial to bridge the gap of diversity in the tech space and allow the effects of representation to truly manifest.

Iβm always listening to music. Spotify is the first app I open every morning, and the last one I close at night.
I love discovering something new, reminiscing to something old, or sending recommendations back and forth to my friends.
